Some fleece is too thick for summer backpacking, other fleece is too thin for anything except middle layering, but the Pumori is just right with midweight Polartec® 200 Series fleece. You can wear it as a middle layer in the winter (it is zip-in compatible and zips into other jackets made by The North Face--just remember to pick the same size) or wear it as outerwear on camping trips. The one thing that the Pumori Jacket doesn't have is the nylon reinforcement panels along the shoulders like the slightly heavier Denali Jackets by The North Face. That means that if you backpack or climb extensively with a pack, you may notice some pilling and wear along abrasion points beneath the straps.
